Job Description

This role focuses on performing avionics installations, modifications, and troubleshooting on military helicopters and related aircraft as part of phase and depot-level maintenance programs. You will work with complex avionics systems, wire harnesses, and wiring diagrams to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant aircraft operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform avionics installations and modifications on CH-47, UH-60, SH-60, and other military helicopter platforms, as well as eligible fixed-wing aircraft.
  • Support phase maintenance and depot-level maintenance activities by inspecting, repairing, and upgrading avionics systems.
  • Route, run, and terminate wiring and wire harnesses in accordance with technical data, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Read, interpret, and apply wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals to complete installations and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Conduct avionics troubleshooting to identify faults, isolate issues, and perform corrective actions on avionics systems.
  • Use crimping and pinning tools to assemble and repair connectors, terminals, and wiring assemblies to required standards.
  • Perform basic hands-on avionics tests and functional checks to verify proper operation of installed systems.
  • Document work performed in accordance with maintenance procedures and applicable regulations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and maintenance personnel to coordinate work, share technical insights, and maintain safe operations.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and procedural requirements while working in an aircraft maintenance environment.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 4+ years of experience as an avionics technician or in a closely related avionics maintenance role.
  • Experience performing avionics installations and/or troubleshooting on military helicopters such as CH-47, UH-60, SH-60, AH-65, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to perform avionics modifications, including integration of new systems and upgrades.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills on avionics systems, including experience with fixed-wing aircraft where applicable.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Hands-on experience routing, running, and terminating wires and wire harnesses.
  • Crimp and pin experience for connectors and terminals used in avionics installations.
  • Capability to successfully complete a basic hands-on avionics test administered on the first day.
  • Familiarity with aviation maintenance practices and avionics systems in a depot or phase maintenance environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Any military helicopter avionics experience, including CH-47, UH-60, SH-60, AH-65, or other platforms, is highly valued.
  • Fixed-wing avionics experience with strong troubleshooting capabilities is considered.
  • Prior experience in depot-level maintenance or heavy maintenance environments is beneficial.
  • Knowledge and Understanding in aviation maintenance within a structured, procedure-driven organization is an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented maintenance environment and communicate clearly with peers and supervisors.
  • DD214 documentation may be submitted if applicable to demonstrate relevant military experience.

Work Environment

Work takes place in an air-conditioned maintenance facility designed for comfort and productivity. The standard schedule is a first-shift assignment from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with overtime available as needed based on operational requirements. Technicians are not required to provide their own tools, as necessary equipment and tooling are supplied on site. The environment supports structured, procedure-based aircraft maintenance with a focus on safety, quality, and teamwork.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntsville, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr.
