What will I be doing?In this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing a safe, efficient, cost-effective and customer-focused airport operation for Emirates at a brand-new station.
You will oversee the day-to-day operation, ensuring all activity is delivered in line with Emirates’ commercial, safety, security and operational standards. As this is a new station, a key part of your role will be establishing effective ways of working with newly appointed suppliers, Ground Handling Agents, airport authorities and service partners, building strong relationships from the outset to support a successful launch and long-term operational performance.
You will ensure Service Level Agreements, on-time performance targets and Emirates airport KPIs are achieved, while monitoring performance across check-in, baggage, turnaround, disruption handling and overall passenger service. Where challenges arise, you will work closely with partners to identify solutions, improve standards and protect the Emirates customer experience.
You will play a key role in supporting passengers during delays, disruptions, denied boarding or other adverse situations, ensuring prompt, professional service that maintains customer confidence and reflects the Emirates brand.
Safety and security will be central to your role. You will ensure appropriate measures are in place to protect aircraft, passengers, cargo, baggage and staff, while maintaining strong operational and service standards across the station.
You will lead, guide and develop Emirates and supplier teams, ensuring staff are competent, motivated and working in line with required procedures, including specialist operational areas such as Load Control where certification is required.
You will also be responsible for preparing and reviewing local procedures for diversions, delays, disruptions and emergency response, as well as completing key reporting and administrative duties including performance reviews, complaint investigations, invoice verification, baggage claim settlements and monthly reporting.
As the Emirates Manager at the station, you will liaise with airport authorities, government agencies, Customs, Immigration, Police, transport authorities and other stakeholders, representing Emirates at relevant airport forums and working groups.
You will also support budgeting, cost control and performance reporting across revenue, expenses, productivity, quality, safety and security, using data and insight to identify emerging issues and drive continuous improvement.
In addition, you will act as the accountable reporting official for emergency planning, maintaining the local Emergency Response Plan and supporting training, exercises and awareness across internal teams and the wider airport community.
QualificationIn order to be considered for this role, the essential things we need from you are:
- Fluent written and spoken English and Finnish.
- At least 5 years experience in airport operations, ground handling or airline station management.
- Strong understanding of airport safety, security and operational procedures.
- Experience working with Ground Handling Agents, suppliers or airport partners.
- Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, customer-focused operational environment.
- Experience managing operational performance against SLAs, KPIs and on-time performance targets.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to manage disruption, complaints and challenging passenger situations professionally.
